What to expect at Icelands famous Blue Lagoon!

Updated: Jul 5, 2023

All about my experience at the famous tourist spot The Blue Lagoon

About the Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa found on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland. It is the most popular attraction in Iceland, drawing people from all over the world to enjoy this luxury spa experience here in Iceland.

My experience at the blue lagoon was amazing. We arrived at the blue lagoon around 2pm and had about three hours in the lagoon. As soon as we arrived we got these cool electronic wrist bands that is activated to our package at the lagoon. My group and I had the comfort package which included entrance to Blue Lagoon, towel, silica face mask, and one beverage of choice. My advice to anyone that is going especially women bring a hair tie. The water will ruin your hair. I did bring a bunch with me because I had read about how bad the water is for your hair.

What I wore this day:

For size reference I am 5'3' and wear a size XS & S

BTW: Before entering the blue lagoon they make you take a shower and put conditioner in your hair before getting in the lagoon.

My experience swimming in the blue lagoon was amazing. It was my first time ever in a hot spring and I really enjoyed it. I will say what I did not like was how cautious you had to be with the water. I loved and enjoy water that I wanted to swim in it, but the lagoon water you can't do that because with the hair situation.

My girl gang and I had the best time, as you can see we loved our mud mask. While we were in the lagoon we did get our beverage of choice and we had a fun time just soaking and drinking our beverages.

When you are in the lagoon don't forget to take picture for memories to show that you had gone to the famous blue lagoon here in Iceland.

My Thoughts

In the future I hope to visit Iceland again, however there are also other great hot springs around Iceland that I would like to experience. These other hot springs are cheaper than the Blue Lagoon and a majority of them don't ruin your hair. I still had a great time at the Blue Lagoon but I just want to experience the others to see how they are.

That same day it was good bye dinner for my travel group which was sad because I did not want to say good bye to the wonderful people I have met on this AMAZING trip!

Our good bye dinner was at Bryggjan Brugghús, which was also a really good restaurant. Definitely go try it when you are in the city Reykjavik.

This trip was a trip of a lifetime. I had the best time of my life meeting new people all over the US and even in Canada. I can't wait to do another group trip like this next year!
